Choose how Lookout reaches you
Useful updates should fit your day and respect what other people can see on your phone. Notification and account preferences are being built alongside Lookout’s incident and private safety tools.
Keep the details inside the app
Push notices use a general message rather than exposing a person, location, incident or private safety details on your lock screen. Open the app’s Alerts to read the information you’re allowed to see. Background delivery is still being validated.
Choose the notices you want
- Device permission
- Check the phone’s notification permission, request it or open system settings. Device permission and your Lookout preferences are separate controls.
- Incident preferences
- Nearby alert settings include categories, radius and quiet hours. Alert zones let different places have different preferences.
- Mention preferences
- Allowing people to mention you and receiving mention notices are separate choices. Following or saving an incident does not override them.
- Private request preferences
- Account controls for safety checks, trip requests and support windows are in development. Changing a notice preference does not grant location access.
- Missed-arrival preferences
- Controls for missed-arrival notices, a response grace period and optional last-location sharing are in development. Last-location sharing is off by default.
Account controls matter too
- Verify your account
- Account settings include email and two-factor verification, alongside profile details.
- Review background location
- Review background-location access separately from notifications and from permission to share with a person.
- Request account deletion
- Deletion requires confirmation and a recent sign-in, with verification where required. A receipt records an accepted request; acceptance does not mean deletion has already finished.
An alert is not confirmation of a response
Network access, phone permissions and availability affect delivery. An app notice cannot guarantee that someone saw it or that help is coming. Lookout has not publicly launched.
