About Lookout — personal and family safety
Lookout is a personal and family safety app being built for South Africa. We want it to be easier to understand what’s happening around you and stay connected to people you trust.
Awareness and people, together
Nearby incident reports can help you make everyday decisions. Private sharing, check-ins and trusted contacts offer another way to keep in touch. Lookout brings these ideas together without making your live location part of a public incident map.
Built with your boundaries in mind
Giving an app location permission should not mean giving everyone access to your location. We’re building around explicit sharing: you approve the people who can see your shared location and can change that access.
Where we are today
Lookout is in development. We plan to start in Cape Town and Johannesburg, with iPhone first and Android to follow. The app is not publicly launched, and there is no confirmed launch date. Planned features may change.
